A LITTLE ABOUT ME

In the summer of 2020, with the murder of George Floyd in Minneapolis, Minnesota, followed by the Black Lives Matter protests, I got to thinking. Thinking a lot. Wondering, exploring, questioning. In the midst of a global pandemic, I had some spare time on my hands. A lot of solitary contemplation just led to more questions. I also started looking deeper into my own cultural heritage. The age old question of South Asian representation in areas such as sport came up. So, I decided to start this blog and put these thoughts down onto (digital) paper.

This is my first real stab at writing. I initially wanted to the explore topics and themes of British South Asians (or, lack of) in sport, namely cricket. But I realize it's not just about sport. It's the world we live in, in general, where representation is an issue.

I hope to broach these topics by asking questions and I hope to be able to tell stories, in one way or another. I want to ask questions of myself, as well as others. I want to go deeper than just surface level. I want to poke, prod and peel away the layers to see what’s behind them.

I hope this is a journey that will be fun, interesting and informative and I hope to take others with me. So, here it goes…

By day, I work within the advertising industry, focused around film & entertainment.

I am a Surrey CCC member and a Chelsea FC fan.
